I visited several times Ciudad Valdeluz by bus, as an investigation during a week. First time i realize a photographic archive, later and i paint the sentence then we see bottom of the picture. This phrase is taken from a Spanish lottery advertising widely visible throughout the city of Madrid.
Ciudad Valdeluz is a city on the outskirts of Madrid, boomtown struck by the subprime crisis and housing crisis, called ghost town by the media. There is however a social life related to any specific shops, empty buildings, street furniture without homes and roads, abandoned sites such as the photography. This sentence in this ruins reversed, recalling the unable to enter a world beyond us.

Cette pièce révèle un processus créatif prenant la forme d'un dialogue ludique et décomplexé entre un graffeur et un plasticien. Ils télescopent leur pratiques et références, dialoguant entre volume et peinture, forme et couleur dans ce qu'ils peuvent avoir de commun renvoyant à l'histoire de l'art comme à celle du graffiti.

A skateboard pool switch in a swimming pool, during a day in the Volksgarten (Graz, Austria). The place is unfortunately famous for drug traffic in relation with immigrant people, it's a bad reputation. But during a day i try to make a link with artists audience, skateboarders, immigrant kids and family, and passersby. The pool is a direct reference to the skate board culture, in fact the reverse action of the pioneers in the 70's, they drained swimming pool to skate and have fun, here i fill the skate pool to swim and being together. Now you can use the skatepark the blue paint is the memory.

Flat garden







They 're different words in the english language to say a zen garden or japanese garden, it's flat garden, flat is also an appartment. It's my starting point, i decide to change the appartment in a kind of interior object garden. I'm especially sensitive to objects and materials around me. Icollect bottles in the streets, i move stone outside to inside, and some other object to realize this flat garden, with fountains and columnus, an ephemeral piece (space).

“When a ball dreams, it dreams it’s a Frisbee”





Artist step into sports and try to get their best out of Frisbee playing.
The UFAT (Ultimate Frisbee Artist Team) is the result of a decision made by four not-sportive artists, who met by chance during their residency in Rondo (Graz, Austria), to achieve a decent level in the Frisbee game.
The performance stresses on collaborative strategies, involvement in public space, participatory attitudes, and the relation between cooperation and competition. The Frisbee game becomes a metaphorical tool for emphasizing common goals, the human need of belonging to a group, the innate instinct for throwing things and the never-ending pursuit for happiness.

Public space interventions with volunteers and performers (20 participants), small-choreographies of pavement, spontaneous disorder of the road, roundabout hacking, in Lyon in the crossing of the bridge( U, during the exhibition's opening "Maintenant".

une action collective, des micro-chorégraphies de trottoir, un dérèglement spontané de la chaussée, du hacking de rond-point, à Lyon au croisement du pont de l'U, durant l'exposition "Maintenant".

Labyrinthe




Une salle noir, une interraction entre la lampe, la chemise, le corps du performeur, le son par un capteur de mouvement, un microphone. L'attention du spectateur est concentré sur ces élèments le plongeant dans un univers tour à tour onirique, absurde, burlesque, bruyant, pathétique. Labyrinthe questionne la fragilité de l'individu dans un monde globalisé et saturé d'informations.

AVATAR is a new performance work initiated by Freya Björg Olafson and Pierre Andrieux with the support of The Canada Council for the Arts, The Manitoba Arts Council and The Winnipeg Arts Council. Work began on Avatar in residence at PAF - Performing Arts Forum in St. Erme-Outre-et-Ramecourt (France) during September 2008 and followed up creating during October at SIM - Icelandic Association for Visual Artists. The performance at Kling&Bang Galleri on October 29 culminates phase one of Avatar, work on the project will continue in 2009 to develop phase two and three of this trilogy. The premiere of the full work will be in Winnipeg, Manitoba in May 2009.

Conceptually, AVATAR explores methods of creating, validating and disseminating one’s identity through the use of technology and the Internet. It is not so much technology itself that interests us; moreover we are interested in our psychological relationship to these tools and the behavior that results. Avatar questions the construction of one’s identity in our global technologicalized world, heavily saturated with cultural references; wherein identity is constructed in relationship to models, icons and sources often contradictory. What occurs when a woman is also a man, when Marilyn Monroe is also Jane Fonda /a police officer /an air stewardess/ a heavy metal fan and Charles Manson?

"the Tamer"


"Le Dompteur" (the Tamer), interactive performance and interactive installation

The installation is about an interactive systeme, the spectator must shout in a microphone to do jump a video figure. But is it possible? Courage public...

Performance speak about a burlesque of the existence, the fragility of the human being in front of his acts and the realization of its wishes. the performeur such a tamer gives orders to a video figure, but who controle who?

What is the relationship between language and image ? What can the body do with words and inversely ? Pierre Andrieux works on a posture: his voice directs a character [himself] using a microphone and a video screen. The command depends on the level of sound: he directs, he commands « sit ! jump ! ». If the orator shouts, the character takes off. The body filmed becomes a puppet, a figure suspended on strings. In the performance « Le dompteur » (The tamer), there is the question of cinema of the past in the art of today or how the mounting and the burlesque spirit of Buster Keaton find their place in interactivity, software and the interface. In a world where everything is possible since the first man on the moon, the first steps of cinema serve as a repertory. One can glean tricks of the trade, movements of the body, speeds, rhythms. With words, Pierre Andrieux, invents a situation; with this situation he provokes a return, a comic repetition where the question « who is the tamer of who? » asserts itself [a burlesque of existence]. The artist becomes the actor, man-machine. The use of the microphone imposes a greatness, a volume in space, the projection on the screen leads to elsewhere. Between the near and the distant, the body of Pierre Andrieux moves from real to virtual; from sound to visual: an art of feeling and the present. In silent cinema, the piano accompanies the projection of the film and takes part in the drama. Here, the words take control of the image. «With a play on language, I establish an art reality ».

"Dance-flour"





"Dance-flour" performance

It's a word game with dance-floor. It's an performance realized in an Slovenian cultural center who was a military bakery and now a place with an art gallery and nightclubs and bars.

In a little close space (la vitrine gallery), i use 100 pack of flour, and i explose all during i dance on a big sound system.

It's more and more difficult to breathe, i stop just before my body is out (near 50 mn)

I refer to the electro club party culture, flour like metaphore of drug (cocaine), i use lipstick, neon-light...and a kind of vanity.

"La Catimini"






"La Catimini"

At the begining it was a performance. I try to remember all the places i was.

You remember a moment, a little story and after a name comes. I write the name on a post-it and i put it on a wall. If there are passersby, often, i speak about my little stories.

"La Catimini" come from a langage game, because in french we say :

"Je pars en Australie" and "Je pars en catimini"

"I go in Australia" and "I go discretly"

It's in the french langage, "en Australie" is a State, a nation, with border, laws...etc, "en catimini" is a state of mind.

In this space between a "State and a state", i begin to write a text including geographic descriptions from a lot of different sources (1000 pages, in reference to the concept of "Pangea Ultima)) and a project for a flag (is an test de Rorschach, where the mark is a double world map). In Berlin for an exhibition "data rescue", in an old east Berlin office building, i create a kind of ambassy office for "la Catimini". During the exhibition, i read the description of "La Catimini" (near 1hour by day) and takes photo of people.

The state of mind become a State.

In the concept "La Catimini" is like a state without border, it's a work in progress, materialized in different places and different times. It's a State who create is own conditions to exist and disappear.

I propose a process, about what can be materialized or not and how. Integrating questions about formats, durations, protocoles.

But what's that will be?

Something like a national day with him fireworks, an anthem, a street, a table, two chairs to speak, a speech, five hands, a breath, a doubt...or all of that...
